Sometimes a new chapter arrives when you least expect it.
Have you ever reached a point in your life and thought:
What if I began again?
Not because anything is wrong. Not because you regret what has gone before.
Simply because life has changed.
Sometimes we plan our next chapter carefully. And sometimes life writes it for us.
A relationship ends. A new one begins. The children leave home. A career comes to an end. Retirement arrives. You move somewhere new.
Or perhaps nothing dramatic happens at all.
You simply realise:
I want something different now.
Beginning again can sometimes feel as though we're admitting that what came before wasn't enough. But what if it isn't about that?
What if a new chapter doesn't diminish the one before it?
What if it simply means there is more life to live?
Perhaps that's something worth giving ourselves permission to consider. To try something you've never tried. To return to something you once loved. To change direction.
To say yes to an opportunity you might once have talked yourself out of.
Because starting again isn't necessarily starting from scratch.
You're taking everything you've learned with you. The experience. The wisdom. The mistakes. The achievements. All of it has helped shape the woman standing here now.
I know something about starting a new chapter. At 72, I started Lois & Co. I didn't have a five-year plan for what my life would look like at that age.
I simply knew there was something I wanted to build. And I gave myself permission to find out where it might lead.
Perhaps you've had a moment like that too.
Perhaps you've made a decision that others didn't quite understand.
Or perhaps you've simply realised there are still things you want to experience.
You don't need anyone else's permission.
And you don't need to know exactly where the new chapter will lead.
You only need to be open to the possibility that there is one.
Sometimes that new chapter is marked by an occasion. A wedding. An award. A retirement celebration. A milestone birthday.
An event that makes you stop and think:
This moment matters.
And that's where what you wear can become part of the experience.
Not because you need a new outfit to become someone different.
But because putting on something beautiful can be a way of acknowledging that the moment matters. Something that feels like you. Something that makes you feel comfortable, confident and ready to be present.
So perhaps the question isn't:
"What should a woman my age wear?"
Perhaps it's:
"What feels like me now?"
Because life surprises us in unusual ways sometimes.
Some of the best chapters are the ones we never planned. If life is quietly offering you a new beginning, perhaps you don't need to have all the answers.
Perhaps you can simply say:
"I'm ready to see where this takes me."
Give yourself permission to begin again.
You might be surprised by what happens next.
